Sadly I have never managed to make the start-line of this event despite entering 5 times. Great write up from the winner of the Strathpuffer 2014
'The start of the Strathpuffer this time was unusual. It was unusual because nobody was slipping on the ice onto their backside during the run at the start. It was unusual because whilst it was cold, it wasn’t really cold like it should be. It was also unusual (for me at least) in that the pace in the first few laps was very high. So high in fact that I could actually taste blood in my throat during the first lap. I expect to taste blood in the first couple of laps of a cyclocross race, but in a 24 hour race? Crackers'. The Clyde Stride 40 Mile Ultra Marathon
Today I entered the The Clyde Stride 40 Mile Ultra Marathon not really sure why but I fancied something a bit challenging! Better get some training in! I have no recent pedigree for doing such things but in 2005 I did the West Highland Way race so I'm not a complete novice. I see some long runs coming up.
Sunday 19 January 2014
Today I went for a run on the road as I couldnt do my normal GGCC club Sunday bike due to family commitments. Yesterday I was chased by a herd of cows over a field so today I suck to the roads. It was of the slow and steady variety as I have really done much running recently. I listened to a West Highland Way Race podcast to get me round and it was inspirational stuff. I did the race in 2005 and sometimes I still dont believe I actually did it. Todays run was good fun and nothing scary happened!
